COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH POLYTECHNICS

The acronym of CDTP means The Community Development through Polytechnic Scheme. This was earlier known as Community Polytechnic Scheme . It was sanctioned to our Institute in the year 1999-2000 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India. It began to function from the year 2000-01. We have one main center at our campus itself and have six extension centers at various places in Somawarpet Taluq. About Six thousand two hundred and fifty four common people have been benefitted by this scheme.

The resources of the existing polytechnics are suitably utilized in this scheme for imparting short term and non- formal training programs to develop employability skills along with appropriate technology transfer and awareness programmmes to the local community.

Objectives and Activities

• To carryout need assessment surveys to assess the technology and training needs.

• To impart skill development training to the target group.

• To provide technical and support services to the rural masses and slum dwellers.

• To create awareness among target groups about technological advancement in contemporary issues of importance.
