Mechanical Engg

Mechanical Engineering Department has started its existence with the start of Institute in the year of 1996-97 with an initial sanctioned student strength of 40 students and the later strength is increased to 60 in the year 2007-08.

Mechanical engineering emerged as a field during the industrial revolution in Europe in the 18th century however, its development can be traced back several thousand years around the world. Mechanical engineering science emerged in the 19th century as a result of developments in the field of physics. The field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements in technology and mechanical engineers today are pursuing developments in such fields as composites, mechatronics and nanotechnology. Mechanical engineering overlaps with aerospace engineering, building services engineering, llurgical engineering, marine engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, petroleum engineering, manufacturing engineering and chemical engineering to varying amounts.

The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and others.

Vision

To create engineers having excellence and competence in addressing the needs in the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering and allied areas at National level with a deep commitment to serve the society for bettering the standard of living.

Mission

  1. Imparting quality technical education to students providing excellent Teaching learning Environment and through competitive curriculum in collaboration with industry.
  2. The technicians should be able to apply basic and contemporary science, engineering and innovative skills to identify problems in the industry and academe and be able to develop practical solutions to them.
  3. To provide experiences in leadership, teamwork, communications — oral, written and hands-on activities, with the help of structured and unstructured real-life projects.
  4. To encourage ethical values and leadership abilities in the minds of students so as to work towards the growth of the society.
